RALEIGH, N.C. – NC State Wolfpack senior center Markeisha Gatling was named the Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) Women’s Basketball Player of the Week as announced by the conference on Monday.
Gatling scored 25 points in NC State’s upset win over the then-No. 12 LSU Tigers on Dec. 20, and her performance helped to earn her first career Player of the Week honor as voted on by the Blue Ribbon Panel.
The Raleigh, N.C. native finished the game making 11-of-13 shots, pulling down eight rebounds, and adding one assist and a steal in 22 minutes of playing time.
Gatling’s impressive finish against the Tigers was the fourth time this season she has scored 20-plus points in a game, and the effort propelled the Wolfpack to its first win over a ranked opponent this season.
