Duke’s Greenwell gets ACC weekly honor

DURHAM, N.C. – For the first time in her career, Duke Blue Devils rookie Rebecca Greenwell was selected the Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) Freshman of the Week on as announced earlier in the week on Monday following a vote of the Blue Ribbon Panel.

Greenwell averaged 19.5 points, 5.5 rebounds, 3.5 assists and 2.0 steals in leading Duke to a record of 1-1, which included a win over then 21st-ranked Syracuse.

The six-foot-one-inch guard hit 8-of-13 three-pointers in the two games for a 61.5 percentage.

Greenwell registered a team-high 20 points against Syracuse as she tied a career high with four three-pointers made, and added five assists and four steals in 34 minutes.

Her two free throws with 26 seconds remaining put the Blue Devils ahead for good as Duke netted a 74-72 victory over the Orange.

Greenwell tallied a game-high 19 points at then 22nd-ranked Florida State as she drained 4-of-5 three-point attempts and added two assists and hit all seven free throws,

In the ACC, she ranks 14th in scoring (14.4), tied 15th in rebounding (6.6), tied fourth in steals (2.2), tied 10th in three-point field goals made (31) and fifth in minutes played (33.4).
