Tolchinsky currently tied for tournament scoring lead

The Columbus Blue Jackets prospects got the better of the Carolina Hurricanes prospect squad handing them a 7-5 loss at the 2013 NHL Prospects Tournament played at Centre I.C.E. Arena in Traverse City, Mich. on Friday.

Sergey Tolchinsky (1 goal, 2 assists) led the Hurricanes offense with notable support from defenseman Ryan Murphy (2 assists) and single goals from forwards Victor Rask and Hunter Garlent, along with defensemen Danny Biega and Tyler Ganley.

Carolina goaltender Austin Lotz made 38 stops in the losing effort against the Blue Jackets.

The loss dropped Carolina to 1-1 and tied for second place in the Ted Lindsay Division along with the Blue Jackets while the Buffalo Sabres attained sole possession of first place with a 6-5 overtime win over the New York Rangers prospects.

The Hurricanes finish round-robin play in the tournament against the Sabres on Sunday at 3:30 p.m.
