Carolina Hurricanes prospects coming to town for development camp

RALEIGH, N.C. – The Carolina Hurricanes announced on Tuesday details of the team’s upcoming 2014 Prospects Development Camp that will take place July 21-26 at PNC Arena.

With a roster of players that includes the entire 2014 draft class, the camp will hold on-ice sessions in the evening that will be open to the public from Wed.- Fri., July 23-25, and will culminate with a game and skills competition on Sat., July 26, as part of the Hurricanes Summerfest celebration.

The players

All seven of Carolina’s selections in the 2014 NHL Draft – Haydn Fleury (7th overall), Alex Nedeljkovic (37th overall), Warren Foegele (67th overall), Josh Wesley (96th overall), Lucas Wallmark (97th overall), Clark Bishop (127th overall) and Kyle Jenkins (187th overall) – will make their first appearances in Raleigh as members of the Hurricanes organization.

Other top-drafted prospects attending the camp include Phil Di Giuseppe (2012, second round), Brock McGinn (2012, second round), Daniel Altshuller (2012, third round) and Brett Pesce (2013, third round).

Summerfest

The Hurricanes Summerfest celebration will begin at 10 a.m. on Saturday, July 26 in PNC Arena, and along with the prospects game and skills competition, the event will feature an autograph session with the camp’s participants and a State of the Hurricanes discussion.

The family-friendly celebration will also include more than 20 interactive inflatables, games and experiences, free giveaways, guest speakers from the Hurricanes organization, appearances by Stormy and the Storm Squad, discounted concessions, hockey games and extended hours for The Eye team store.

Event parking and admission are free.

Getting school-ready

In conjunction with Summerfest, the Hurricanes will also host a school supply drive which benefits Wake County Human Services and PLM Families Together.

The drive will run from Mon., July 21 through the end of Summerfest and will have collection bins located at the VIP entrance of PNC Arena throughout the week during normal business hours and during Select-a-Seat sessions, as well as in the East Priority Lounge during Prospects Development Camp public practices, for fans to bring in donated items.
