GREENSBORO, NC – The top-seeded NC State Wolfpack held off the ninth-seeded Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets, claiming a 73-72 decision in quarterfinal play at the 2025 ACC Women’s Basketball Tournament on Friday.

As a red-dominant crowd at Greensboro Coliseum looked on with both teams tied 66-66 with two minutes to play, a high-arching three from guard Zamareya Jones (13 points) put State ahead, and soon leading 69-68 with a minute to go.

A jumper from Tech’s Chazadi Wright (12 points) made it a one-point differential – a 71-70 State lead with 15.1 seconds to go.

Following two made free throws from Jackets guard Dani Carnegie (12 points), the Wolfpack came out of the timeout ready to execute.

A foul on Aziah James (16 points) put her at the line with 7.1 seconds to go.

Both of her free throws dropped cleanly through the mesh and put NC State up 73-72.

The Wolfpack defense subsequently denied the Yellow Jackets a shot to win it, as Carnegie dribbled but couldn’t find space to get a shot off before the horn sounded to end the game.

With the win, NC State advanced to the Tournament semifinal on Saturday to face familiar Triangle foe fifth-seeded North Carolina at Noon.
