DURHAM, N.C. – The seventh-ranked Duke Blue Devils women’s basketball team announced on Monday that sophomore point guard Alexis Jones would miss the remainder of the season and will have surgery on Thursday to repair a torn left anterior cruciate ligament.

Following an MRI earlier in the day, Duke doctors confirmed that Jones had torn the ligament during the Blue Devils’ 81-70 loss against the second-ranked Notre Dame Fighting Irish on Sunday.

While helping to lead the Blue Devils in narrowing their margin against the Irish, Jones had posted 15 points and six assists prior to suffering the injury in the second half.

As an All-America candidate, she was averaging 13.1 points, 5.3 assists, 4.1 rebounds and 2.1 steals on the season, and had picked up her game to assume full leadership of the Duke backcourt after All-America senior guard Chelsea Gray was injured and also lost for the season back on Jan. 12.
