Wolfpack’s Gatling, Burke named to All-ACC teams

GREENSBORO, N.C. – The 14th-ranked N.C. State Wolfpack had two players, Markeisha Gatling and Kody Burke, selected to the 2013-14 All-ACC Women’s Basketball Teams as announced by the Atlantic Coast Conference on Tuesday.

All-ACC First Team and All-ACC Second Team selections were voted on by the league’s Blue Ribbon Panel, which consists of national and local media members as well as school representatives.

Gatling was named to the All-ACC First Team while Burke earned All-ACC Second Team honors.

Gatling has led the Wolfpack this season averaging 17 points and seven rebounds per game while holding the nation’s most accurate shooting percentage (67.7).

The center’s highlights of the season include five double-doubles, a career-high 27-point performance against Boston College, and being named ACC Player of the week on Dec. 23.

Burke follows Gatling on the team’s stats list for scoring and rebounds, averaging 15 points and six rebounds per game respectively.

The forward has tallied double-figure scoring in 25 of 30 games played throughout the season, and peaked by scoring a career-high 30 points against then seventh-ranked Duke on Feb. 20.
