ACC MLAX: Notre Dame earns top seed in 2015 ACC Championship Tournament

GREENSBORO, N.C. – Notre Dame holds the top seed for the 2015 Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) Men’s Lacrosse Championship which gets underway Friday at PPL Park in Chester, Pa.

The Fighting Irish (9-1, 4-0) will play No. 4 seed Duke (10-4, 1-3) in the first semifinal game at 5:30 p.m.

Notre Dame topped the Blue Devils 15-10 in both teams’ regular-season meeting on Apr. 4.

Notre Dame is the first team to finish league play undefeated since Duke went 3-0 in 2011, beating North Carolina 15-14 on Saturday.

No. 2 seed North Carolina (12-2, 3-1) will meet No. 3 seed Syracuse (9-2, 2-2) in the second semifinal on Friday at 8 p.m.

The Tar Heels edged the Orange, 17-15 on Apr. 11.

The winners of the two semifinal games will meet in the ACC Championship game on Sunday at 1 p.m.

The ACC Championship will feature four of the nation’s top lacrosse programs as all four teams are currently ranked among the top six in both national polls.

Virginia, the league’s fifth team, currently-ranked No. 10, will play Penn in the ACC-Penn Classic on Saturday.

ACC WLAX: North Carolina earns No. 1 seed, Duke is No. 2 in ACC Championship Tournament

GREENSBORO, N.C. – North Carolina holds the top seed for the 2015 Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) Women’s Lacrosse Championship which gets underway Thursday at Virginia’s Klockner Stadium in Charlottesville, Va.

The Tar Heels (13-1, 6-1) will play No. 8 seed Virginia Tech (6-10, 0-7) in the first game of the tournament on Thursday at 11 a.m.

North Carolina topped the Hokies 14-5 in both teams’ regular-season meeting on March 25.

Other quarterfinal matchups include No. 2 seed Duke (13-2, 5-2) playing No. 7 seed Louisville (10-6, 2-5), No. 3  Boston College (14-2, 5-2) against No. 6 Syracuse  (10-6, 3-4), and No. 4 Virginia  (11-5, 4-3) taking on No. 5 Notre Dame  (9-7, 3-4).

Notre Dame and Virginia will meet following the conclusion of the North Carolina-Virginia Tech game at approximately 1 p.m.

The Louisville – Duke game is slated for a 4 p.m. start, while Syracuse and Boston College will close out quarterfinal action at approximately 6 p.m.

The four winners will meet in the semifinals on Friday at 1 p.m. and 3 p.m., and the ACC Championship title game is set for Sunday at 1 p.m.
