CARY, N.C. – The Carolina RailHawks continue their North American Soccer League (NASL) Fall schedule when they travel North to kick off against last year’s Soccer Bowl champion, the New York Cosmos, at Hofstra University’s James M. Shuart Stadium on Saturday.
Carolina has won two of the three recent matches against the Cosmos, including a 1-0 win in Spring Season play at WakeMed Soccer Park.
It was a year ago since the RailHawks visited New York and ended up on the losing end of a 4-0 Cosmos win.
Currently sitting in the league standings with a 1-0-3 record, Carolina will seek to follow-up on a recent 3-0 home win over Ottawa last Saturday when NASL Player of the Week Zack Schilawski led the way with two goals.
The win snapped a four-game losing streak for the RailHawks that included three straight NASL Fall Season matches.
“I thought we did really well in Minnesota and San Antonio,” RailHawks head coach Colin Clarke said of the team’s previous road losses.
“We just need to find a way to score the first goal on the road. We have been playing better, and hopefully this weekend’s game against New York will be the first of many wins to come away from home.”
