RALEIGH, N.C. – The Carolina Hurricanes recalled forward Zach Boychuk from the Charlotte Checkers of the American Hockey League (AHL) on Sunday.
The team additionally placed forward Jeff Skinner (concussion) on injured reserve, retroactive to Oct. 5.
Boychuk, the Hurricanes’ first pick (14th overall) in the 2008 NHL Entry Draft, has scored one goal in two games for the Checkers this season.
In 11 games he played with Carolina in 2013-14, he posted four points (1g, 3a) with a plus-1 rating.
Boychuk is coming off a season during which he won the AHL’s Willie Marshall Award as that league’s top goal scorer with 36 goals.
He has tallied 24 points (9g, 15a) in 96 career NHL games with Carolina, Pittsburgh and Nashville.
