RALEIGH, N.C. – Carolina Hurricanes defenseman Justin Faulk was included on the roster of players that will represent the United States during the 2014 Winter Olympic Games in Sochi, Russia as announced by USA Hockey on Wednesday.

Faulk, 21, currently ranks second among Hurricanes defensemen in scoring this season tallying 16 points (3g, 13a) in 40 games played – numbers that contributed to him earning his first-ever selection to the Olympic team.

He has been involved in international competition for the United States since he was 16 years old as a product of the United States National Team Development Program.

He scored the game-winning goal in the gold medal game of the 2010 International Ice Hockey Federation (IIHF) U-18 World Junior Championship, and also represented the U.S. at the 2011 World Junior Championship and the 2012 and 2013 IIHF World Championships.

Faulk was Carolina’s second-round selection (37th overall) in the 2010 NHL Entry Draft, and has totaled 16 goals, 37 assists (53 points) and 68 penalty minutes in 144 career games played with the Hurricanes.
