PRAGUE-OSTRAVA, CZECH REPUBLIC – The possibility that representatives from the Carolina Hurricanes will earn medals at the 2015 International Ice Hockey Federation (IIHF) World Championship is high.
All six of the team’s representatives, playing and coaching in the tournament, and their respective national teams, advanced to the playoff round that begins play on Thursday.
Dadonov currently plays with SKA Saint Petersburg in the Kontinental Hockey League (KHL).
Playing for Team Sweden, forwards Elias Lindholm (2 goals, 4 assists, 13 shots) and Victor Rask (3 goals, 1 assist, 12 shots) will face Dadonov and goaltender Anton Khudobin’s Russian squad.
Defensemen Justin Faulk (3 assists, plus-6) and Team USA will match up against Team Switzerland, while defenseman Michal Jordan (1 goal, 1 assist, plus-2) and tournament-host Czech Republic plays Finland.
Team Canada, the only undefeated team in the tournament, led by Todd McLellan’s staff that includes Carolina head coach Bill Peters, will face off against Belarus.
Winners will advance to the semi-final round which takes place on Saturday, followed by bronze and gold medal games to be played on Sunday to conclude the tournament.
