DURHAM, N.C. Duke Blue Devils linebacker Kelby Brown and safety Deondre Singleton each received Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) Player of the Week honors this week following Duke’s 48-30 win over then-No. 24 Miami Saturday in Wallace Wade Stadium.

Brown was named ACC Linebacker of the Week for No. 25 Duke’s third consecutive game week, while Singleton received ACC Defensive Back of the Week recognition for the first time in his career.

Both players were key contributors to a defensive effort that saw Duke hold Miami to 10 second-half points, including a shutout fourth-quarter, as the Blue Devils overcame a 30-28 deficit by scoring 20 unanswered points for their sixth win in a row.

Brown totaled a game-high 17 tackles against the Hurricanes to go with one tackle for loss, one quarterback-hurry, and a forced fumble.

He had several key late-down stops, including a tackle for loss and forced fumble on 3rd-and-1 late in the third quarter that forced a Miami punt and allowed Duke to hold on to a 31-30 lead.

The double-digit tackle game was Brown’s fourth of the season and third straight.

In his fifth career start, Singleton totaled 10 tackles, two pass breakups and his first career interception against the Hurricanes.

The interception ended Miami’s first drive of the second quarter and set up Duke’s second touchdown drive of the day.

His two pass breakups came in the second half as Duke held the Hurricanes to 11-of-23 (.478) passing for 177 yards over the final two periods.

With the two selections, Duke has now received 13 ACC Player of the Week awards this season and at least one honor in six of the past seven game weeks.

Brown, Singleton and the Blue Devils will look to continue their quest toward earning the ACC Coastal Division title when they kick off against the Wake Forest Demon Deacons this Saturday at 12 p.m. in Winston-Salem, N.C.
