BALTIMORE, MD. — The Duke Blue Devils and North Carolina Tar Heels men’s lacrosse squads both received attention on Tuesday as US Lacrosse included former players from both teams as part of the list of 52 that was announced and will comprise the U.S. Men’s National Team training roster.
Following three-days of drills and scrimmages, Duke alums Matt Danowski, Ned Crotty, and David Lawson, along with North Carolina grads Marcus Holman and Ben Hunt survived the cut from a list of 94 of the best professional and collegiate lacrosse players in the country.
These players will train with Team USA at a series of fall and winter events that will culminate with the Champion Challenge, a US Lacrosse event to be hosted Jan. 24-26 at ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex in Lake Buena Vista, Fla., where they will vie for one of the 23 spots on the final World Championships roster.
Team USA, the reigning world champion, will compete for a record 10th world title at the 2014 Federation of International Lacrosse (FIL) World Championships, hosted by US Lacrosse on July 10-19, 2014, in Denver, Colo.
