DURHAM, N.C. – Duke Blue Devils goalkeeper Kelsey Duryea earned national Player of the Week honors from Inside Lacrosse on Tuesday.

Duryea turned in a career-best 16-save performance Sunday in an 11-8 loss to then No. 5 Northwestern on Sunday.

The preseason All-American faced 31 total shots (27 on goal) and picked up a career-high seven ground balls on the afternoon.

A four-year starter in the cage, Duryea also turned in a strong effort in the Blue Devils’ season-opening 20-4 victory over Campbell last Thursday.

In that game, she allowed just two goals in 53 minutes of action and registered six saves and six ground balls.

Through the first two contests of the season, Duryea has posted a 6.87 goals against average and a.629 save percentage in 113 minutes of action.

Duryea and the fifth-ranked Blue Devils will hit the road for the first time in 2016, traveling to face Navy at Navy-Marine Corps Memorial Stadium in Annapolis, Md. on Saturday.
