Carolina Hurricanes announce training camp roster

RALEIGH, N.C. – The Carolina Hurricanes announced the roster for the team’s 2014 training camp on Tuesday.

The Hurricanes have invited 51 players to their main camp, including five goaltenders, 18 defensemen and 28 forwards who will take to the ice at PNC Arena beginning on Friday.

Along with the team’s veterans and recently signed free agents, the roster includes 17 players who represented the Hurricanes and finished fourth overall during the 2014 NHL Prospect Tournament in Traverse City, Mich.

That group include forwards Phil Di Giuseppe, Patrick Brown, Clark Bishop, Victor Rask, Brock McGinn, Brendan Woods, Sergey Tolchinsky, Brent Pedersen and Carter Sandlak; defensemen Haydn Fleury, Josh Wesley, Dennis Robertson, Trevor Carrick, Kyle Jenkins and Tyler Ganly; and goaltenders Alex Nedeljkovic and Daniel Altshuller.

The Hurricanes will open training camp with player physicals on Thursday and then begin on-ice work on Friday at 8:55 a.m.

The team will play its first preseason game against the Columbus Blue Jackets on Sunday at PNC Arena with puck drop taking place at 1:30 p.m.

Carolina opens its 2014-15 regular season against the New York Islanders on Fri., Oct. 10 at PNC Arena.
