DURHAM, N.C. – Duke Blue Devils sophomore Isabelle Montagne was named the Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) Women’s Lacrosse Co-Defensive Player of the Week on Tuesday.

The recognition followed her performance in the Blue Devils’ 13-8 victory over No. 3 Boston College last Saturday.

Montagne shared the weekly accolade with Liz O’Sullivan of Notre Dame.

A native of Lake Forest, Ill., Montagne was honored for the first time in her career, while the announcement marked the fifth time on the season a Duke player received a weekly award from the ACC.

In the battle of top-five teams Saturday, Montagne matched up with Boston College’s leading scorer, attacker Covie Stanwick, and held her without a goal in the win.

Montagne was part of a Blue Devil defense that held the Eagles scoreless for the first 19 minutes of the contest, enabling Duke to jump out to a 3-0 advantage.

The defense held Boston College scoreless again for a nearly 20-minute stretch late in the second half, and limited an attack averaging 14.42 goals per game entering the contest to just the eight tallies.

Montagne also added two ground balls and a caused turnover in the victory, which moved Duke into sole possession of first place in the ACC at 5-1.

The third-ranked Blue Devils (12-1) welcome No. 18 Ohio State to Koskinen Stadium on Thursday with opening draw taking place at 2:30 p.m.
