BUFFALO, N.Y. – The Carolina Hurricanes selected center Janne Kuokkanen with their third selection, 43rd overall, at the 2016 NHL Entry Draft held at First Niagara Center on Saturday.
The six-foot-one-inch, 175-pounder completed the 2015-2016 season with the Karpat Juniors tallying 53 points (22g, 31a) in 47 games played.
A left-handed shooter, Kuokkanen, the team’s second-round pick, added to the cadre of Finnish players the Hurricanes have been assimilating over the past year, led by last year’s second-round pick, Sebastian Aho.
