Wolfpack WBB beats Virginia Tech, 73-59

RALEIGH, N.C. – The NC State Wolfpack opened its Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) schedule with a 73-59 win over the Virginia Tech Hokies at Reynolds Coliseum on Thursday.

Led by career-high scoring performances from Miah Spencer and Dominique Wilson, the Wolfpack improved to 10-5 (1-1 ACC) on the season while the Hokies move to 9-7 (0-3 ACC).

NC State’s dominance over Virginia Tech extended to a clean 16-0 all-time.

Wilson led with a game and career-high 24 points (8-12), while Spencer posted a career best, scoring 21 points (7-14).

“It feels great,” Wilson said afterwards.

“Winning is always great. We worked hard in practice. We worked hard on our mistakes, and we knew that we were going to come out here and have a great game.”

NC State converted at 44 percent from the field while containing the Hokies to 37-percent shooting.

The Wolfpack continues league play at home against Clemson on Saturday.

Notes: NC State’s Krystal Barrett and Chloe Jackson did not play – both sitting out with injuries.
