CARY, N.C. – The SAS Championship announced earlier in the week that John Daly committed to play in the 2017 event that will be played at Prestonwood Country Club Oct. 13 – 15.

Daly will make his first appearance at the SAS Championship since joining the PGA Tour Champions in 2016.

Currently sitting 14th on the Charles Schwab Cup Money List with $619,266 in earnings, Daly’s season includes his first Tour win at the Insperity Invitational in May.

Daly recently finished T3 at the Dick’s Sporting Goods Open.

Known primarily for his long drives, Daly was the first pro golfer to average over 300 yards off the tee in a season.

He currently leads the PGA Tour Champions in driving distance, averaging 299.99 yards per drive.

Daly also brings more major championship pedigree to the SAS, holding the 1991 PGA Championship and the 1995 Open Championship titles to his credit to go along with PGA Tour Rookie of the Year (1991) and PGA Tour Comeback Player of the Year (2004) recognitions.

“Having John Daly as part of the SAS Championship is exciting for our fans, who will get to see him up close at Prestonwood,” tournament director Jeff Kleiber said.

“He is one of the most well-known golfers in the world, and we are eager to add him to an already elite field of golfers.”
