ACC MBB: NC State suffers 88-58 loss at Notre Dame

NOTRE DAME, IND. – The N.C. State Wolfpack (10-5, 0-2) lost 88-58 to the Notre Dame Fighting Irish (12-3, 2-0) at Purcell Pavilion on Wednesday.

Allerik Freeman led the Wolfpack with 13 points, followed by Lennard Freeman’s 10 points on 4-of-6 shooting.

Torin Dorn added nine points and a team-high five rebounds, and Braxton Beverly posted eight points and a team-high five assists.

N.C. State shot 37 percent from the field, while the Fighting Irish converted at 61 percent which included nine three-pointers during the opening 20 minutes of play.

The Wolfpack trailed 48-36 at halftime and couldn’t make up any ground in the second, particularly while missing their first 11 shots from the field.

TJ Gibbs led Notre Dame with 22 points, including three 3s as the Fighting Irish finished 11-of-25 from beyond the arc.

N.C. State hosts the second-ranked Duke Blue Devils in its ACC home-opener at PNC Arena on Saturday.
