Former UNC golfer Casey Grice earns LPGA card for 2016
DAYTONA BEACH, FLA. – The Symetra Tour, Road to the LPGA, handed out ten LPGA Tour cards for the 2016 season following the Symetra Tour Championship at LPGA International on Sunday.
The top 10 finishers on the Symetra Tour’s Volvik Race for the Card money list earned a spot to play full-time on the LPGA Tour through category nine on the LPGA priority list.
On that list was former Tar Heel Casey Grice who finished ninth on the money list with $55,621 in earnings to claim her LPGA card for 2016.
“It’s huge. It’s a dream come true,” Grice said.
“Since I started playing golf the LPGA is what I’ve been shooting for and so to now know I have my card secured for 2016 there’s really no words right now.”’
Throughout the 2015 Symetra Tour season, Grice posted nine top-10 finishes throughout the season including four during the Midwest Swing towards the end of the season.
Her best was a solo second at the Self Regional Healthcare Foundation Women’s Health Classic.
In just her second season, Grice led the Tour in total birdies and total eagles.
Grice earned conditional LPGA Tour status at LPGA Qualifying Tournament in 2014 when she finished T21.
A former Honorable Mention All-American at UNC in 2012, Grice won the 2015 Heather Wilbur Spirit Award, and possesses the 2014 ANNIKA Academy Elite Athlete Award to her credit as well.
According to the Tour’s release, at the current time, Grice will be the only Tar Heel golfer slated to play on the LPGA Tour in 2016.
