RailHawks fall 3-0 at Jacksonville

JACKSONVILLE, FLA. – The Carolina RailHawks suffered a 3-0 shutout loss to the Jacksonville Armada at Community First Park on Wednesday.

While Carolina claimed a 4-0 shutout win when the two teams met back in May, RailHawks head coach Colin Clarke expected a tough match from the home side in the return encounter.

“Although we played against the Armada at the beginning of the season and were successful, they are a difficult team to play against because they are aggressive offensively, which will require us to be strong and organized defensively,” Clarke said.

The RailHawks (2W-2D-3L) pressured early and throughout, but the Armada (2W-1D-4L) were equal to the task and posted consecutive goals in the 32nd and 33rd minutes to establish a comfortable advantage to defend.

Carolina had its chances but could not capitalize on them as Armada goalkeeper David Siera made four saves, equaling RailHawks keeper Akira Fitzgerald’s efforts to defend the goal throughout the match.

Jaime Castrillón, Akiel Barrett, and Jemal Johnson all netted goals to finalize the win for Jacksonville.

While the RailHawks put together numerous attacks, they went scoreless for the first time during the NASL Fall season, and currently stand winless in three consecutive matches.

Carolina sits in fifth place with 22 points in the Combined Standings and will continue its current road swing when it travels to face FC Edmonton on Sunday before returning to host the New York Cosmos at WakeMed Soccer Park on Sat., Aug. 22nd.
