DURHAM, N.C.Former Duke two-time All-American Brittany Lang was named to the 2015 U.S. Solheim Cup team earlier in the week as one of two captain’s picks made by Juli Inkster.

Along with Paula Creamer, Lang was added to the 12-player squad that will compete Sept. 18-20 at St. Leon-Rot Golf Club in St. Leon-Rot, Germany in the prestigious international competition that pits elite female American golfers against those from Europe.

The U.S. Team seeks to avenge two consecutive losses to Team Europe and will be fighting for their first win on European soil since their 16-12 victory in 2007 at Halmstad Golf Club in Sweden.

Lang will add experience to a veteran-led U.S. team as she will make her fourth appearance in the biennial match-play event.

She boasts a 5-4-2 overall record for a total of six career points and was the leading point-earner (3) for the U.S. in Colorado in 2013.

“I am honored to have been named to the U.S. Solheim Cup team and wish to thank Captain Juli Inkster for her confidence in me,” Lang said.

“I am also excited that I will be playing with so many of my friends as we represent our country in Germany next month.”

Lang won six tournaments in only two years for the Blue Devils, while being selected as the 2004 National Rookie of the Year, and a 2005 First Team All-American at Duke under head coach Dan Brooks.

“I’m very pleased with my two captain’s picks,” Inkster said.

“They add a lot to the team not just as far as golf but chemistry and experience. They are very competitive players. Paula has been in a little bit of a funk but I expect her to be out of it and ready to go. B Lang has been playing really good. I’m looking forward to it and I think the team is really stoked to get over there and turn the tide a little bit. We are going there as underdogs but we are going to go in there and fight for everything.”

Other members of the American squad include Stacy Lewis, Lexi Thompson, Cristie Kerr, Michelle Wie, Brittany Lincicome, Morgan Pressel, Angela Stanford, Gerina Piller, Alison Lee and Lizette Salas.
