Carolina Hurricanes announce NHL Prospects Showcase Schedule

RALEIGH, N.C. – The Carolina Hurricanes announced the schedule for the upcoming 2022 NHL Prospects Showcase that will take place from Sept. 16-19 at Invisalign Arena and PNC Arena, as detailed in a press release posted on Thursday.

The four-team round-robin tournament rotates hosting duties among participating teams – Carolina, Nashville Predators, Tampa Bay Lightning, and Florida Panthers.

All four teams will face off against one another during the four-day event.

Play begins Fri., Sept. 16, with matchups at Invisalign Arena between the Hurricanes and Panthers at 10 a.m., and Tampa Bay Lightning and Nashville Predators at 1 p.m.

The full schedule of games will be streamed live on CarolinaHurricanes.com.

Admission to all games is free for fans interested in watching in-person.

Rosters

The Hurricanes roster for the tournament will feature at least 12 drafted prospects including 2019 first-round pick Ryan Suzuki and second-round selections Noel Gunler (2020), Jamieson Rees (2019) and Vasily Ponomarev (2021).

Any skater or goaltender in each of the four organizations on an entry-level contract (or less), provided they are 24 or younger with fewer than 20 games of NHL experience, are eligible to participate in the Prospects Showcase.

Exceptions may be permitted with prior approval from all teams.

Full rosters for all teams will be released closer to the start of the tournament.

Playing format

Teams will dress 18 skaters and two goaltenders for each contest.

Games will consist of three 20-minute periods followed by a five-minute, three-on-three overtime period if the game remains tied after regulation.

Regardless of the final score, games will conclude with a five-player-per-team shootout.
