CHESTNUT HILL, MASS. – The N.C. State Wolfpack suffered a tough 64-59 overtime loss to the Boston College Eagles at Sylvio O. Conte Forum on Monday.

Originally scheduled for Sunday, the game was delayed due to winter weather in the Northeast and resulted in the Wolfpack (14-11, 5-7 ACC) taking a same-day flight and landing just hours before tip-off.

NC State trailed by 14 in the first half, but would battle back during the course of the second half before eventually tying it up at 55-all to send the game into overtime.

NC State’s offense was led by Len’Nique Brown’s game-high 18 points and six rebounds, and was supported by Miah Spencer’s first career double-double (14 points, 10 rebounds) and Jennifer Mathurin’s 12-point, eight-rebound finish.

Current ACC Player of the Week Kelly Hughes (16 points, 7 rebounds) and Emily Daley (16 points, 5 rebounds) led the Eagles (12-13, 4-8), while Ashley Kelsick added 11 points and eight rebounds in the winning effort.

Each squad relied on its perimeter game, dropping a total of nine three-pointers apiece while launching a combined 61 attempts from beyond the arc.

Both teams were tied 9-9 early before the Eagles went on a 10-0 run.

BC eventually led 26-12 before the Wolfpack scored eight of the half’s final 13 points to trail 31-20 at halftime.

NC State began the second half on a 12-2 run and came within one point, trailing 33-32 with 14:47 to play.

The Eagles responded and extended their lead back up to 11 points with five minutes remaining.

The Wolfpack ended regulation time on a 13-2 run which included Brown dropping a three-pointer to tie the game 55-55 with 29 seconds to go.

The senior captain then stole the ball on BC’s next in-bounds play and gave N.C. State a chance to win the game, but her shot attempt didn’t fall.

The Wolfpack took its first lead of the game in overtime, leading 59-58, when Brown hit a mid-range jumper with 2:42 remaining.

However, the Eagles scored the final six points of the game and claimed the victory.

NC State now prepares for its next two games at Reynolds Coliseum, facing Miami on Thursday before hosting Duke on Sunday.
