Quick Lane Bowl

North Carolina Tar Heels (6-6, 4-4) vs. Rutgers Scarlet Knights (7-5, 3-5)

Ford Field, Detroit, Mich.

Fri. Dec. 26 – 4:30 p.m. (ESPN)

The Tar Heels and Scarlet Knights have met six times in series history – each team has won three games in series play.

The Quick Lane matchup marks the first time the two schools have met in a bowl.

The series began between the two schools in 1894 – not quite as far back as when knights rode horses, but a time during which the Tar Heels weren’t able to post a win.

The Scarlet Knights won the first three games in the series with the last win coming over the Tar Heels in the 2006 season opener in Chapel Hill (21-16).

UNC has won three consecutive games in the series – winning the last meeting, 24-22, at Kenan Stadium in 2011.

North Carolina will be playing in its 31st all-time bowl game, having won two of its last three bowl games, and holding a 14-16 all-time record.

Rutgers will make its ninth bowl appearance over the last 10 seasons and the 10th bowl game all-time in school history, holding a 5-4 record all time, including a 1-1 record in bowl games against ACC opponents.
