Hyundai Sun Bowl

Duke Blue Devils (9-3, 5-3) vs. Arizona State Sun Devils (9-3, 6-3)

Sun Bowl Stadium, El Paso, Texas

Sat. Dec. 27 – 2:00 p.m. (CBS)

Saturday’s game will mark the first on the gridiron between the two schools.

The matchup between two Power 5 conference opponents should be a hot one despite the cool and snowy conditions they prepared through on Friday.

Duke will make its 11th bowl game appearance, playing in its third consecutive postseason game in as many years, a program first.

The Blue Devils seek to break their current winless streak in the postseason, holding an all-time record of 3-7, with their last bowl win coming in the Cotton Bowl back on Jan. 2, 1961 – a 7-6 victory over Arkansas.

The Sun Devils hold a 7-10 record all-time against programs from the current ACC, but have not faced one since playing North Carolina in a 33-31 victory on the road in 2003.

Arizona State will play in its 28th bowl game, sitting with an overall 13-13-1 record and on a current consecutive bowl appearance streak as well.

The Sun Devils will be making their fourth straight trip to a postseason game, matching two previous similar streaks in program history.

Arizona State is not new to the Sun Bowl and will kick off against the Blue Devils making its fifth appearance in El Paso while holding a 2-1-1 record all-time as part of the 81-year history of the game.
