Salvadores named MVP, leads Spain to FIBA U18 Euro gold

CELJE, SLOVENIA – Duke Blue Devils incoming freshman guard Angela Salvadores was named Most Valuable Player of the FIBA U18 European Championship that concluded on Sunday.

Through eight games, Salvadores averaged 20 points, 4.9 rebounds and 2.3 assists, and finished the championship with a game-high 27 points in a 76-60 win over France in the gold medal game.

Salvadores hit 10-of-23 field goals, 7-of-7 free throws, and posted four assists and one steal in 39 minutes of action.

In doing so, she claimed her third career gold medal and sixth overall medal while representing her home country.

Singh wins Indonesia Ladies Amateur Open

BATAM, INDONESIA — Duke women’s golfer Gurbani Singh claimed honors at the 31st Indonesia Ladies Amateur Open Golf Championship at the Padang Golf Sukajadi Golf Course on Sunday.

Singh, who is a product of New Delhi, India, posted rounds of 74, 74 and 76 over three days to win by eight strokes with an eight-over-par 224 under rainy and windy conditions.

It was the Blue Devils sophomore’s second win during the summer, having won the Hero Women’s Professional Golf Tour event in India back in June to become the first amateur to win on that tour this season.
