GREENSBORO, N.C. – The Duke Blue Devils and North Carolina Tar Heels football programs each had players selected for weekly Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) honors as announced by the league on Tuesday.

Blue Devils’ Barnes named Receiver of the Week

Blue Devils receiver Johnell Barnes was named the ACC Receiver of the Week.

Barnes received the honor after helping Duke to a 37-7 season-opening win over the Tulane Green Wave last Thursday, as he posted a career-best 11 receptions for a career-high 109 yards and a touchdown.

The league honor was the first of Barnes’ career.

The preseason All-American selection registered a 90-percent grade and 10 knockdown blocks in UNC’s 17-13 loss to South Carolina last Thursday.

The Tar Heels ran for 208 yards and averaged 6.5 yards per carry against the Gamecocks.
