CHAPEL HILL, N.C. – The preseason No. 13 North Carolina Tar Heels had five players score in double figures and posted a 92-50 preseason win over the Division II Wingate Bulldogs at Carmichael Arena on Monday.

Guard Allisha Gray and forward Stephanie Mavunga each scored 14 points while guard Danielle Butts contributed her second consecutive double-digit finish with 10 points.

Freshman guard Jamie Cherry scored 12 points coming off the bench on a 4-of-7 shooting performance that included hitting 2-of-3 from three-point range.

The Tar Heels started the game with a 17-2 run and Cherry led all scorers with nine first-half points that contributed to a 43-19 lead at halftime.

Extending its margin to as high as 45 points, North Carolina used its 48-percent success rate from the field to outdistance itself from the Bulldogs who were limited to a 30-percent finish led by Morgan McGee (11 points).

After beating Carson Newman 88-27 last Thursday, the Tar Heels’ final tune-up against Wingate leads into the beginning of their regular season that begins place at home against Howard on Friday.
