CHAPEL HILL, N.C. – The North Carolina Tar Heels men’s lacrosse team has designated three senior midfielders, Ryan Creighton, Greg McBride, and Campbell Wood as captains for the upcoming 2014 season as announced on Wednesday.

Creighton is coming off a season in which he won honorable mention All-America honors.

He played in all 17 games for the Tar Heels in 2013 and was the squad’s sixth leading scorer with 14 points.

He set a school record for goals in a season by a player exclusively playing short-stick defensive midfield with 11 tallies, while picking up 22 ground balls and nine caused turnovers for the Tar Heels.

McBride played in 16 games in 2013 and has been a three-year regular in the rotation at short-stick defensive midfield during his career at UNC.

After missing the entire previous season to recover from back surgery, McBride finished with two goals and eight assists last season as well as 17 ground balls and seven caused turnovers.

Wood has been the ultimate survivor through an injury-laden career at UNC, but is expected to have a strong senior season.

He played in 16 games as a freshman in 2010, starting twice on the first midfield unit.

He missed the 2011 and 2013 seasons with injuries and was limited to just four games in 2012.

As the Tar Heels continue to prepare for their upcoming season this Fall, they will play Ohio State in a scrimmage at Calvert Hall High School in Baltimore, Md. at Noon on Saturday.

The game is the annual fundraiser for the Michael Breschi Scholarship Fund at OSU.
