GREENSBORO, N.C. – The Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) announced on Monday that North Carolina Tar Heels women’s basketball freshman forward Stephanie Mavunga had earned ACC Rookie of the Week honors, as selected by the Blue Ribbon Panel.

This was the second consecutive week that a Tar Heels player was named ACC Rookie of the Week as Mavunga’s teammate and fellow freshman Allisha Gray was awarded the honor the previous week.

Mavunga tallied a double-double in 11th-ranked North Carolina’s recent victories over Coastal Carolina and Coppin State.

After posting a perfect 10-for-10 performance from the field (20 points, 13 rebounds, 5 blocks) against the Chaticleers as part of a 106-52 win, she then finished with 14 points and seven rebounds in a 91-51 victory over the Eagles.

Mavunga shot 75 percent (15-of-20) from the floor for the week, and currently leads the ACC in blocks, tallying three per game, and field goal shooting (65.9 percent), while sitting tied for third in rebounding with 10 per game.
