NEW YORK, N.Y. – Forward Nacho Novo was named North American Soccer League (NASL) Player of the Week on Monday.

The selection was made following Novo’s two-goal, one-assist performance in a 3-2 win over the San Antonio Scorpions on Saturday.

“I feel honored to be named NASL Player of the Week,” Novo said.

“We had a fantastic game against San Antonio because we were able to function as a team. I would have not been able to score or play the way I did if it weren’t for my teammates, so I would like to thank them.”

Novo has scored six goals in 10 league appearances this year, trailing only San Antonio’s Omar Cummings for the league’s scoring lead.

“Nacho fully deserves the recognition,” RailHawks head coach Colin Clarke added.

“Not only did he have two goals and an assist, but he also worked very hard for us and did a great job of leading our line and making things happen.”

Novo’s strong performances have the RailHawks just a point back of first place in both the NASL Fall Season Standings and NASL Combined Standings.
