ST. PETERSBURG, FLA. – It was better late than never for the Carolina RailHawks as they pulled out a 1-0 victory over the host Tampa Bay Rowdies at Al Lang Stadium on Saturday.

A stoppage-time goal from midfielder Ty Shipalane made the difference for Carolina and earned back a valuable three points they gave up to Tampa Bay a few weeks ago at WakeMed Soccer Park.

“We are delighted with the win,” RailHawks head coach Colin Clarke said.

“It has been a tough couple of weeks for us losing some heartbreakers at home – we also had a tough time on the road this season, but we now have two road wins in a row. We needed this win and I think we deserved it.”

Playing two scoreless halves, Shipalane ended up posting his fourth goal of the season on a set-up pass from Daniel Jackson in the 91st minute of play.

The win moved the RailHawks (3W-0T-5L, 9pts) back into fourth place in the North American Soccer League (NASL) Fall Season standings, and more importantly into the same spot in the Combined Season table with 23 points.

Carolina returns home to host the Atlanta Silverbacks next Saturday (Aug. 30).
