RALEIGH, N.C. – While the 2014 Winter Olympics hockey competition taking place in Sochi, Russia nears its conclusion, the Carolina Hurricanes will return to the ice at Raleigh Center Ice at 11 a.m. on Thursday.

It will be the team’s first practice since the start of the National Hockey League’s (NHL) Olympic break.

Thursday’s session will be the first of five practices the team will hold prior to leaving for a five-game road trip that begins on Tues., Feb. 25, in Buffalo.

The Hurricanes-Sabres matchup will make up a Jan. 7 postponement due to hazardous weather conditions in Buffalo and will be the first game to take place and resume the league’s regular-season playing schedule.

In addition to practices held at Raleigh Center Ice on Thursday, Friday, Sunday and Monday, the team will hold a practice at Cleland Ice Rink at Ft. Bragg on Saturday at 11:15 a.m.

The team’s visit is sponsored by the Special Forces Charitable Trust and is for the benefit of Ft. Bragg families and the entire Ft. Bragg community.
