Hurricanes recall Brody Sutter, place Patrick Dwyer on IR

RALEIGH, N.C. – The Carolina Hurricanes announced on Wednesday that the team had recalled center Brody Sutter from the Charlotte Checkers of the American Hockey League (AHL).

In the same announcement, the Hurricanes indicated that forward Patrick Dwyer had been placed on injured reserve (IR), retroactive to Oct. 11.

Sutter, 23, a seventh-round Carolina draft pick (193rd overall) in the 2011 NHL Entry Draft, is in his third full professional season and has played in all three of Charlotte’s games thus far this year.

He played in three of Carolina’s seven exhibition games during training camp before being assigned to Charlotte on Oct. 2.

The six-foot-five inch, 203-pound forward scored eight goals and earned 20 assists (28 points) in 69 games with the Checkers in 2013-14, and has career totals of 12 goals and 22 assists in 99 AHL games played with Charlotte since turning professional.
