RALEIGH, N.C. – In continuing to adjust and reorganize the Carolina Hurricanes front office during his first few months as executive vice president and general manager, Ron Francis announced on Wednesday that three members of the team’s hockey operations staff – Darren Yorke, Mike Sundheim, and Kyle Hanlin – would assume new roles and responsibilities with the team.

Entering his sixth season with the Hurricanes, Yorke was promoted to assume the title of Assistant to the General Manager/Video Scout.

Serving as the team’s video scout since 2009, Yorke has used television broadcasts of professional and amateur games to assist management in making personnel decisions, and his responsibilities during that time have increased to also include making player evaluations and leading the team’s scouting meetings for the past two seasons.

Prior to joining the Hurricanes, Yorke interned and worked for the Buffalo Sabres for two seasons and spent one year with Canadian sports network TSN.

Sundheim is entering his 15th year with the organization and will now assume the role of Vice President of Communications and Team Services.

Similarly, Hanlin, also entering his 15th year in the NHL, and 13th with the Hurricanes, will assume the role of Senior Director of Communications and Team Services.

With their promotions, Sundheim and Hanlin will take on travel and team services responsibilities in addition to their long-time media relations and communications roles.
