DURHAM, N.C. – The Duke Blue Devils concluded exhibition play with a 100-45 win over the Armstrong State Pirates at Cameron Indoor Stadium on Sunday.

Following up on a 100-33 preseason win over Limestone last Thursday, the Blue Devils put together a second consecutive century-mark showing with guard Rebecca Greenwell (31 points, 8 rebounds, 3 assists) and center Elizabeth Williams (23 points, 18 rebounds, 5 blocks) combining for 54 points.

Williams finished with her second straight double-double and also added five assists, second in that category only to guard Ka’lia Johnshon’s (3 points, 8 rebounds) team-high eight helpers.

Greenwell went 50 percent (5-10) beyond the arc while guard/forward Sierra Calhoun was the team’s other double-digit finisher, contributing 15 points and seven rebounds.

Forward Kendall Cooper came off the bench and added 10 rebounds and was Duke’s only other player to clean the glass with a double-figure performance.

Armstrong State was led by Shermika Harris (21 points, 5 rebounds, 2 assists) and Brigitta Barta (13 points, 3 rebounds).

“We as a team, our staff and players, are very excited about the opportunity we had today.” Armstrong State head coach Fala Bullock said.

“I thought we had some opportunities to score a few more points, but for our first time out with a big league (team), I thought we had a good time and worked on some things that we needed to work on and had some opportunities. So we’re just grateful for the opportunity that we’ve had and are looking forward to continuing on with our season and having some success.”

Duke finished with a 68-37 advantage in rebounding and shot 52 percent from the field while holding the Pirates to 23-percent shooting and allowing just 22 points against in the second half.

“That was another good game for us to learn things, use different lineups and combinations, and play hard,” Duke head coach Joanne P. McCallie said.

“There were some good things and some things that need work, so I felt like we got good things from both exhibitions. Now we have a little bit of time to go back to the film room and go back to practice before continuing on later in the month.”

The Blue Devils open their 2014-15 season on the road, traveling to Alabama to face the Crimson Tide on Sun., Nov. 16.
