DURHAM, N.C. – Duke Blue Devils redshirt senior left tackle Takoby Cofield was named the Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) Offensive Lineman of the Week, as announced by the league on Monday.

The ACC honor is the first of Cofield’s career.

Cofield’s selection was the second in consecutive weeks for the Blue Devils who received a league honor a week earlier as true freshman running back Shaun Wilson was named ACC Rookie of the Week on Sept. 15.

Cofield is the first Duke player to receive the conference’s offensive lineman of the week award since Perry Simmons’ selection in October 2013.

During Duke’s 47-13 home victory against Tulane last Saturday, Cofield provided time and space for the Blue Devils to gain 437 yards of total offense on just 70 snaps, good for an average of 6.2 yards per play.

The Blue Devils’ balanced attack registered 256 rushing yards and 181 yards through the air, and on the ground averaged 6.1 yards per carry and had four players score a touchdown.

Cofield, from Tarboro, N.C., has helped Duke to post 174 points through the first four games of the year, the most in program history.
