DURHAM, N.C. – Duke Blue Devils women’s golf announced on Tuesday that Celine Boutier and Leona Maguire will compete in the Ladies Professional Golf Association’s (LPGA) Evian Championship to be played at the Evian Resort Golf Club in France this week.
The Evian Championship is the fifth and final major tournament to be contested during the 2015 LPGA season.
The two Blue Devils golfers, the most recent WGCA National Player of the Year selections in consecutive seasons, are two of only six amateur golfers competing.
Boutier will be competing in her home country as she is a product of Montrouge, France.
She received the invitation to play in The Evian Championship after winning the 2015 Ladies’ British Open Amateur Championship over the summer in Northern Ireland.
Boutier is a two-time WGCA First Team All-America and earned WGCA National Player of the Year accolades last season.
A native of Cavan, Ireland, Maguire placed second overall during the summer at the ISPS Handa Ladies European Masters with an 11-under-par, 277.
Maguire is posting one of the most successful individual seasons in Duke women’s golf history with a school-record 70.78 stroke average, three victories and 24 rounds of even or under par.
She was named 2015 WGCA National Player of the Year for her efforts.
Duke two-time All-American Brittany Lang, recently selected to this year’s U.S. Solheim Cup team, is also in the tournament field this week.
