DURHAM, N.C. – When the Duke Blue Devils kick off the 2015 football season at Tulane on Sept. 3, it will be under the lights – a 9:30 p.m. start.

Thus, it made sense that they held a 70-snap scrimmage on Saturday night to get acclimated to playing under such conditions.

“I’m extremely excited to watch this tape tonight,” head coach David Cutcliffe said following the session.

“I know we’ll see some good things along with areas that we need to improve on.  What we see on film will give us a good indication of where we are at this point of camp.”

Scrimmage highlights included junior wide receiver Johnell Barnes catching five passes for 103 yards, including 37 and 45-yard receptions from redshirt junior quarterback Thomas Sirk and redshirt sophomore Parker Boehme, respectively.

Sirk finished the night completing 13-of-21 pass attempts for 104 yards, while Boehme was six-of-10 for 90 yards with one touchdown and one interception.

Senior wideout Max McCaffrey had four receptions for 42 yards while redshirt junior tight end Erich Schneider posted the lone touchdown catch on a nine-yard effort from Boehme.

In limited action, senior running back Shaquille Powell gained a team-high 15 rushing yards on four attempts.

Defensively, sophomore linebacker Zavier Carmichael logged one interception and one fumble recovery, while rookie cornerback Jeremy McDuffie added one interception along with one pass breakup.

Sophomore defensive end Danny Doyle posted a pair of quarterback sacks.
