DURHAM, N.C. – The Duke Blue Devils landed a league-high 13 selections on the 56-member 2015 Academic All-ACC Football team as announced by the conference office on Wednesday.
Duke has now led the conference in Academic All-ACC selections for seven consecutive seasons.
Leading the way for the Blue Devils are four-time Academic All-ACC honorees Ross Martin and Will Monday.
Martin, a CoSIDA Second Team Academic All-America selection and National Football Foundation Scholar-Athlete nominee this Fall, holds Duke career records for total points (430), field goals (78), field goals attempted (93), field goal percentage (.839), field goals of 50-plus yards (8), PAT conversions (196), PAT attempts (197) and consecutive PAT conversions (152).
Monday became the 10th punter in ACC history to reach 10,000 yards and ended his career owning the Duke record for career punting average (42.64).
Duke’s three-time all-league honorees are DeVon Edwards and Shaquille Powell.
Edwards joined Martin as a CoSIDA Second Team All-America pick in 2015.
Earning their second nods on the team were Thomas Sirk and Max McCaffrey.
Representing the Blue Devils for the first time were Tinashe Bere, Gabe Brandner, Zavier Carmichael, Ben Humphreys, Alonzo Saxton II, Tanner Stone and A.J. Wolf.
Wolf was a CoSIDA Academic All-America First Team selection in 2015.
Duke led all ACC schools with its 13 selections, followed by Virginia (6), Pittsburgh (5), Miami (4), Syracuse (4), Virginia Tech (4), Boston College (3), Clemson (3), Louisville (3), N.C. State (3), Wake Forest (3), Georgia Tech (2), North Carolina (2) and Florida State (1).
To be eligible for consideration, a student-athlete must have earned a 3.00 grade point average for the previous semester and maintained a 3.00 cumulative average during his academic career.
The league has selected an Academic All-ACC Football team every year since 1954.
