DURHAM, N.C. Duke Blue Devils women’s basketball senior forward Haley Peters signed a training camp contract with the Washington Mystics of the WNBA as announced on Monday.

Peters will report to Washington, D.C., for training camp that starts on Sunday following a season during which she averaged 11 points, tied for team-best eight rebounds, two assists and a steal per game in 31 contests played for the Blue Devils.

She received All-ACC Tournament second team, Capital One Academic All-America and All-ACC Academic Team honors during the year.

The 6-foot-3-inch standout closed her career with 826 rebounds over her four years, which ranks sixth all-time on the Duke charts, while also tallying 1,367 points to stand 16th overall in the Blue Devils record books.

Peters will join former Duke All-America Monique Currie on the Mystics squad during camp and will work to earn a spot on the team which opens it 2014 season on Fri., May 16 against the reigning WNBA Champion Minnesota Lynx, the team that recently drafted teammate Tricia Liston with the 12th overall pick in this year’s draft.

While not being drafted, Peters is Duke’s third of four graduating seniors who looks to begin a professional career in the WNBA along with Liston and guard Chelsea Gray who was selected 11th overall by the Connecticut Sun.
