DURHAM, N.C. – Duke Blue Devils golfer and 2014 ACC Player of the Year Celine Boutier carded a 72 and 70 respectively and claimed medalist honors at the U.S. Women’s Open Sectional Qualifying event held at The Heritage Golf Course in Westminster, Colo. on Wednesday.

The finish earned the sophomore a spot in the upcoming 2014 U.S. Women’s Open that will be played on the famed No. 2 Course at Pinehurst Resort & Country Club in Pinehurst, N.C. from June 19-22.

Boutier’s total of 142 bested Janie Jackson’s finish by two strokes (144) as she collected three birdies in each of her two qualifying rounds to stay at the top of the leaderboard in the field of 48 players.

The win provided the Montrouge, France native her first opportunity to compete in the U.S. Women’s Open as she currently sits ranked No. 7 nationally in the Golfweek/Sagarin Performance Index with a 71.83 stroke average.

While leading the third-ranked Blue Devils in ACC play, Boutier has collected three victories over her final four tournaments and is currently preparing with her team to play in the upcoming 2014 NCAA Championship Tournament at the Tulsa Golf & Country Club in Tulsa, Okla., from May 2023 before focusing her attention on the U.S. Women’s Open.
