RALEIGH, N.C. – After extending qualifying offers to seven restricted free agents on Monday, the Carolina Hurricanes announced on Tuesday that the team had agreed to terms with forward Patrick Brown on a one-year, two-way contract.

Brown was the first out of a group that included Keegan Lowe, Ryan Murphy, Victor Rask,  Dennis Robertson, Brody Sutter, and Brendan Woods to ink a new agreement with the Hurricanes.

The deal will pay Brown $650,000 at the National Hockey League (NHL) level, or $75,000 at the American Hockey League (AHL) level for the 2016-17 season.

Brown, 24, split his time in 2015-16 between Carolina and the team’s AHL affiliate, the Charlotte Checkers.

He totaled two points (1g, 1a) and four penalty minutes in seven NHL games played with the Hurricanes, and posted 25 points (13g, 12a) in 70 AHL games, and ranked tied for fifth on the Checkers goal scoring list.

The six-foot-one inch, 210-pound forward originally signed with Carolina as a free agent in April 2014, and made his NHL debut in the team’s 2014-15 season opener.

He has earned two points (1g, 1a) in 14 career NHL games with the Hurricanes, and 35 points (15g, 20a) in 130 career AHL games with Charlotte.
