DURHAM, N.C. – Duke Blue Devils senior midfielder Myles Jones was named the 2016 Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) men’s lacrosse Offensive Player of the Year as voted on by the five head coaches and announced by the league office on Tuesday.

Jones is the second Duke player in three seasons to receive the honor, preceded by attackman Jordan Wolf.

The two-time All-American and the 2015 LT. Donald MacLaughlin Award winner as the nation’s top midfielder will end his collegiate career as arguably the best midfielder in Blue Devils program history.

So far this season, Jones has posted 65 points (32 goals, 33 assists) and is second in team scoring, having started 17 games in which he’s scored five-plus points five times, tallied three hat tricks and put together five performances with at least three assists.

He’s been a record setter.

An 11-point (5 goals, 6 assists) finish in a 17-16 loss to North Carolina tied the single-game record for points.

Jones made history in 2016 and became the first midfielder in NCAA Division I lacrosse history to record 100 goals and 100 assists in his career.

He currently holds the Duke single-season and career records for a midfielder in points and assists and ranks second in goals.

Jones is one of three midfielders in program history to record 40 goals in a season while his 226 points overall rank seventh.

One of 11 Blue Devils all-time to earn All-ACC honors three times in his career, Jones’ 226 points are the second most among midfielders in NCAA history, behind Gary Gait’s 253.
