DURHAM, N.C.— Duke Blue Devils men’s lacrosse added two more gold medals to its championship mantle as sophomore Brad Smith and incoming freshman Terry Lindsay became the 18th and 19th players to bring home gold from the Federation of International Lacrosse (FIL) Men’s U19 World Championship.
The United States put together a 13-12 comeback win in the gold medal game over Canada on its home soil at Percy Perry Stadium in Coquitlam, British Columbia on Saturday.
Ryan Conrad ended the dramatic run after the U.S. trailed 8-2 at the half, and 11-9 with seven minutes to play.
Conrad buried the game-winning goal with eight seconds to play after receiving a pass from behind the cage before letting his shot go with traffic in front of the goal.

Smith, a starter on the first midfield unit, finished the tournament with three goals and six assists while Lindsay had four ground balls in the team’s six games played overall.
In a support capacity, Duke equipment manager Jay Bissette also was part of the triumphant Team USA squad for the second consecutive time, also serving as a member of the gold-medal winning squad in 2012.
The victory was the eighth U19 title for the U.S., and snapped a three-tournament winning streak for Canada in FIL World Championship play as it previously claimed the 2014 men’s senior championship, the 2015 women’s U19 championship, and the 2015 men’s indoor championship.
