CARY, N.C. – Three-time major Champion Vijay Singh committed to play in the 2017 SAS Championship for the first time as announced by tournament organizers on Tuesday.

A member of the World Golf Hall of Fame with 34 career victories on the PGA Tour, Singh posted his first win on the PGA Tour Champions earlier this season at the Bass Pro Shops Legends of Golf at Big Cedar Lodge in April, and also finished 2nd in the KitchenAid Senior PGA Championship.

“We are thrilled for our fans to see Vijay Singh at the SAS Championship for the first time.” tournament director Jeff Kleiber said.

“With the addition of Vijay, this year has the chance to be the best field in the history of the SAS Championship.”

Winner of the 2000 Masters, as well as the 1998 and 2004 PGA Championship, Singh was inducted into the World Golf Hall of Fame in 2006.

He sits third on the PGA Tour’s all-time money list, trailing only Tiger Woods and Phil Mickelson.

Having turned pro in 1982 and joining the PGA Tour in 1993, “The Big Fijian” currently holds the record for most wins after the age of 40 with a total of 22.

In addition to Singh, other notables in this year’s field include last year’s champion Doug Garwood, John Daly, Bernhard Langer, Nick Faldo, Colin Montgomerie, Jerry Kelly, David Toms, and Steve Flesch.
