David Cutcliffe – Head coach – Duke

“We were an efficient football team tonight. We were efficient on offense and on defense until the second half when we gave up some biq plays. We held them to 106 yards rushing in the first half and we got a lead because of our efficiency there. We averaged 10 yards per play in the first half and seven for the game.

“Daniel’s 13-for-17 passing was great, but people won’t see the kind of game it was statistically. I know our defense is upset about giving up a few big plays. This is a team that threw 24 passes in 13 games and they threw 21 tonight, so you’re not quite ready for that. It’s a good lesson for us. If you get ahead of a triple-option team, you have to have a few more answers in coverage.”

Jeff Monken – Head coach – Army

“I think we just got outclassed. Give credit to Duke, coach Cutcliffe and that team, they just outplayed us. We looked like a very poorly coached and very poorly prepared football team tonight, and it was disappointing. I’ve got to do a better job with our team and we’ve got to do a better job of executing overall. Hopefully we’ll find a way to do that before we get to next weekend. If we play like we did tonight, we’ll have trouble beating anybody.”

Daniel Jones – Quarterback – Duke

“There was so much anticipation leadinq up to this game. It was good to get back out there. We obviously worked in practice a lot and felt good about our work, but there is something relieving about playinq in a game and being on the field. It was a lot of fun out there and it was a great team win.

“It (explosive plays) was a biq emphasis of ours this offseason and in camp. It was good to see that materialize this first night. Aaron [Young] did a great job of getting behind some of those guys and getting separation. Give a lot of credit to him and that whole receiver core and how they have been working. T.J. [Rahminq] has been doing it for three years. He’s a huge playmaker. You have to give credit up front to the job they did protecting and giving us time to generate some explosives. ”

Dylan Singleton – Safety – Duke

“We just came in playinq for each other – take care of your responsibilities and run to the ball. That’s really the thing, just running to the ball every play and being there for your brothers.

“We thought they would come out throwing. They have a new quarterback who they said had a pretty good arm, so we knew they were going to be able to throw the ball. We just try to limit their explosives and I think we did a pretty qood job of working together and getting the job done. ”
